Dick Bruna was also inspired by the world around him. He omitted as many details as possible in his illustrations: you immediately see what it is, but there is still plenty of room left for your own imagination. By placing Dick Bruna's work alongside that of the Impressionists, you are invited to look at the works differently. At first glance, the artworks in this book do not resemble Dick Bruna's illustrations, but if you take the time, you will start to see similarities.
