The Dick Bruna 'Joep in the traffic game' is a board game that can be played with two to four children. In this game children learn in a playful way where to walk and how to cross the road. When walking on the sidewalk, walk on the side of the houses and stop at the corner or curb. When crossing you look left, right, left (or: to one side, to the other side and to one side again) and you may cross when it is safe. Purpose of the game: You are at home and would like to play outside. On the way to the playground you have to cross the busy street and you sometimes encounter obstacles on the sidewalk. On the busy street, keep an eye out for the cars and see when it is safe to cross. After playing, walk back home and cross the street again. Each player has his own colored house and playing area.
